APPROACH
Whole-person care with clear direction
The Peaked Mind approach is grounded in warmth, developmental understanding, family context, practical tools, and clear direction. These principles describe the intended future counseling experience; counseling has not opened yet.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Six ideas shape the Peaked Mind approach
Understand
Future counseling will start with what is happening, what matters most, and what may be contributing to the problem.
Context
Care will consider relationships, family, school, work, routines, environment, strengths, and stressors.
Goals
Future counseling will make its direction understandable instead of vague or mysterious.
Tools
The work will focus on strategies that can be used in daily life, not only discussed in a session.
Connection
The intended experience will create enough safety and trust for honest work to happen.
Progress
Progress will be reviewed so the plan can change when needed.
CHILDREN & FAMILIES
A child does not exist in a vacuum
When counseling opens, support for children may involve understanding what is happening at home, school, with peers, in routines, and within the family system. Parent involvement may be an important part of future care depending on age, goals, privacy, and clinical needs.
